About the Role
Mad & Crip Theology Press is looking for 4-5 volunteers to help us with copyediting for our upcoming anthology, Our Disability Theologies: Body-Minds and God-Talk. This project offers a chance to be part of something meaningful, and we’d love your support as we bring this important work to life.
Why We Need You:
As we prepare for the release of this anthology, the growing interest in our content means we need additional support to ensure that each piece we publish is clear, polished, and accessible. We're seeking volunteers to help with copyediting—ensuring that each chapter reflects the high standards we strive for. No prior experience in copyediting is required—just a willingness to learn and a passion for supporting the disability community.
What You’ll Do:
Copyedit submissions based on a provided style guide.
Ensure clarity and readability while maintaining the unique voices of each contributor.
Work with the editorial team to ensure consistency across the anthology.
Time Commitment:
4-5 hours per week, beginning in February or March 2025, and lasting until the Fall of 2025. The schedule is very flexible—we do everything in Crip time, meaning we want to respect and honour everyone's bodyminds. We will work with you to find a pace that suits your availability and well-being.
Team Environment:
You’ll be joining an amazing group of people who are passionate about disability justice and supporting our community. We work collaboratively, and you'll have support throughout the process.
Why Volunteer With Us?
By volunteering, you'll gain hands-on experience while helping amplify marginalized voices in the theology and disability space. Your contribution will help bring this anthology to life and ensure it reaches a broad and diverse audience.
How to Apply: If you’re interested in this role, please send an email to Editor Amy at amy@madandcriptheologypress.ca with a brief introduction, your experience (if any), and why you’d like to be involved in this project.
